Bread
When using bread it is best to start off using it before any other baits are tried, as bites decline change to maggots or some other bait.
Flake
Fresh bread is all that is required, the trick is to tear out a small piece from the centre of the slice so that is uneven and has ragged edges, we then wrap it around the back of the hook so that it hides most of the hook, add a gentle squeeze to hold it in position and is ready.
The ragged edge is necessary in order to get the added benefit of small particles falling off tempting the fish to your bait.
Punched
A killer bait on slow and Stillwater venues for almost any size of fish of most species, it can be attached right down to hooks as small as a No.22.
Fresh slices of thick bread and a universal punch is all you need.
Getting bread ready for Punching
Use 4 slices of the white bread cut the crust off two of the slices.
Use a fish slice to support each slice and hold it over a pan of boiling water for 10 seconds on each side.
Lightly roll the two slices without the crusts, this gives it a firmer texture and is better at staying on the hook.
The other two are for when you need a softer approach, but does not stay on the hook quite so well.Put them in an air tight container or sealed plastic bag.
Simply choose the size you require and use the punch to cut out a section of bread.
Push your hook into the piece to extract it from the punch and attach it to your hook.
Liquidised bread can be used as an attractor to good effect.
