Pond Pellets

Cheap and easy to prepare they are an excellent bait for
Bream - Crucian's - Tench and Carp

Omega floating pond pellets are my particular favourites, they give a nice soft bait that stays on the hook.

Basic Equipment

Pyrex Basin - Sieve - Water tight container - Small plastic freezer bags - Tie Wraps - Pond Pellets (small and medium)

Preparation

Hookbait

Boil a Kettle of water.
Put a quantity of the small pellets into the basin.
Cover with boiling water and leave to soak for 5 minutes.
Place the Sieve over the basin.
Put a handful of medium pellets into the sieve.
Pour boiling water through the pellets in the sieve.
Remove the pellets from Sieve and put them in the plastic bag.
Blow air into the plastic bag and twist the end to keep the air in.
Seal the plastic bag with a tie wrap and tap the bag to separate the pellets which tend to stick together.

Attractor Bait

Add more boiling water to the pellets in the basin until they remain covered Allow them to cool and put them in a water-tight container.

Method

Best used at short range , mulch the attractor bait and introduce a little into the swim at regular intervals.
Fish over depth using a single Pellet on a 14 hook , make sure its pushed well into the bend of the hook. The Pellet make look small but it will swell up after a short time in the water.
Since the hook bait is buoyant it holds nicely near the bottom without getting buried.
