Colouring

Back = Dark Brown

Flanks = Old Gold.

Underside = Cream

Fins = Pale Orange + Grey Dorsal.

Habitat

Mostly found in ponds and lakes but can now be found in many canals and rivers,these waters need to be in good condition in order to provide an adequate food chain.
Natural foods are plank tonic and bottom feeding animals.
Commercial breeders add fertilisers and nutrients to promote this supply of food, they also supplement their diet with granular foods.

Best Baits

A vast array of baits are used anything from fresh Bread to exotic mixes of granular foods that can be flavoured, coloured and made into Boilies
Pastes made from pond pellets are very popular. Good for Pole fishing but its a bit too soft for normal rod and line. Almost anything that is remotely edible will have taken fish at one time or another including the standard baits like
Maggots - Worms and Seeds
In summer floating baits like bread crust or dog mixer biscuits are always worth a try.
