A splendid fish full of character, it provides some excellent sport having good fighting qualities.
A very distinctive fish with its flat sides,high arched back crowned with a spiny dorsal fin,the spikes are very sharp and can pierce the skin make sure to lay this back towards its tail before grasping it.
Average weight 8 oz.(227 gm).
Specimen fish 2.1/2 lbs.(1.1 kg.)
Perch are fierce predators and feed on the fry of other species as well insects and crustaceans.
Mainly bottom feeders, especially the bigger fish,they feed throughout the year and have voracious appetites.
