One of the best for giving you a run for your money.
Solid and powerful with an oval cross section,small red eyes with one Barbule at each corner of their top lip.
Fins have rounded edges.
Scales are deeply embedded,which makes them slippery,so take care when unhooking your catch or with a quick flick of its tail it will finish back in the water. Average weight 3 lb(1.36 kg)

Back = Dark Olive

Flanks = Olive/Gold

Underside = Cream/Yellow

Fins = Grey

Habitat

Lakes,rivers, ponds,gravel pits and canals.
They particularly like weedy margins and warmer water,here they grub around in small shoals stirring up the bottom searching for their food.
Natural food is any bottom dwelling organism.

Pops Tip

In mild weather try fishing close in to the bank
especially early morning and dusk.
