Closed Face Reel
This is a fixed spool reel with some differences
The spool is totally enclosed and is not affected by the wind.
By pressing a control on the front of the reel line is released.
This makes it an easy way to control your rig in running water.
The one draw back is when you have hooked the fish, the handle has to be turned before you can retrieve, this change releases a small amount of line before retrieval begins, the result is a small loss in control but with practice this can be kept to a minimum.
Spools are narrower - Can cause the line to bed in resulting in loss off casting distance.
Get the best you can afford - Get a well known brand
If its a make you don't recognise check the availability of spare parts.
When you have made your choice, make sure your finger will reach the release button while grasping your rod.
Do keep it cleaned and lubricated - Get a reel case to protect your investment
