Float Rods

Typical float rods fall within two categories
Tip Action Rods and Through Action Rods
Both made from Carbon Fibre - they are strong and light.
A length of 13 ft.(3.90 Metres) is the most popular, however with the advent of new materials a longer rod of 14 ft.(4.2 Metres) is worth considering and has the edge when fishing at long distance or in deeper waters.
Look for good balance - always try it with a reel attached.
Let the butt run parallel to and resting on the side of your forearm.
the end of the butt should protrude just past the elbow.
By re-positioning the reel you should be able to achieve good balance.
Lined stand off runners should be in sufficient numbers to enable the line to follow the curve of the rod without any flat spots.

Tip Action

The Tip Action Rod has a very quick response - when striking the tip of the rod reacts immediately and are eminently suitable for use with - Stick Floats and Canal Darts.
The fast action of the tip enables us to set the hook in the shortest possible time.

Through Action

The Through Action Rod evens out the load along its full length - this power curve enables us to cast floats of all shapes and sizes.
Though it is somewhat slower than the Tip Action Rod it is far more versatile.
Waggler Floats are very compatible and they are often referred to as a Waggler Rods.
Its extra power gives us longer casting distances and helps us to control bigger fish.
