Whips
Small cousin of the pole usually 4 to 8 m. with elasticated or flick tip.
Used for speed fishing, set up line to hand.
The flick tip seems to be the most popular, the tip is quite thin which makes for a very fast action and is best suited to smaller fish which can be caught in large amounts.
To get the most from a whip it needs to be light, a good example of a 6 m whip should conform to the following.
Weight 130 gm to 150 gm is about right, the flick tip should be about 450 mm and permanently spliced and whipped onto the end section.
The overall action should be slightly on the soft side so that you may take some better fish without pulling them off on the strike.
